I got to the beach at around 8.30am this morning and found a nice 22-24 knot WSW wind blowing. The sea looked pretty mad and rough so I rigged my 5.0m and my wave board. As I was riging it felt as though the wind dropped, so I also riggged my Hifly and 5.7m. I went out on the bigger kit at first, but the wind continued to drop and I ended up changing up to my bigger board (Fanatic Cross 100). I had a few good runs on that over the ridiculously choppy and rough seas, with some nice jumps. The waves were pretty big and some of them were mean dumping monsters! Inevitably, the wind died a little more, I came off the plane in front of one of these walls of mean water and got completely and utterly trashed. Around and around I went inside the wave, still in the footstraps and harness. At one point the wave let me to the surface where I managed to sneak in a quick breath, but it soon took me down and around and around I went again. I eventually came out a little disorientated and pretty much back on the beach miles along the beach from where I started. I tried sailing back upwind, but now the wind wasn't strong enough to get upwind, so I ended up doing a big 'walk of shame' along the beach.
